I would like to know. Also, what did leaving a business card with the WT accomplish in terms of concrete goals? I left the WT and other dinky groups. It is sad that so many people don't want to hold orgs. to their promises. This is not activism. It is acting like a clown. Mention that someone shunned is now in touch with their family. Let us know which disfellowshipped people were restored to active status. It appears that you are collecting data for your own private purposes.

Was droping bomb on Hiroshima in 1945 evil?
by new hope and happiness insorry for such a depressing question, but i was moved by a picture i saw of the consequences.
( a woman carrying her child) and i realised:-.
a) it was a civillian population.. b) i don't see how a nuclear holocaust can ever be right.. c) they could have bombed tokyo where all the generals lived but chose hiroshima.. d) the irony after the bombing america conceeded to many of japans terms.. your opinion would be valued..

This reminds me of a John Lennon statement. He was arguing for peace at all times. A prissy, arrogant British female journalist told him he was a lunaatic if peace would have stopped Hitler. She talked down to him with much contempt. John did not miss a beat. No, not if Hitler learned peace as a middle aged man. What if Hitler were taught peace from the moment he was born? I could not believe how quick he was.
When 9/11 happened I was uptown. I worked across from the WTC. It did not seem real. When I reached home, it took hours to travel a small distance.Every trucks and many cars were pulled over. It reminded me a coup d'etat. The famous French film about Algeria. I was wondering why it was taking so long to send Afghanistan back to the Stone Age. If no else would do it, I would. People on the street did not understand the delay. We were always the people screaming "peace." New York University built a dorm across my building. The students had taken their sheets and written "Peace" and "Imagine." I had no idea Lennon took in so many generations. I worried about loud noise from the dorm. The school kept it under control. Students had turned speakers to the street and blasted "Give Peace a Chance." It calmed me down. I was crying.

I believe that Pearl Harbor was no surprise attack for the White House. No one can prove that FDR himself received reports. Radar was new and it signaled the attack. My prof said there was a lot of tension concerning California. The US/California did many things to antagonize the Japanese. A lot of it was clearly racist. My Chinese friends hate the Japanese more than any Westerner does.

I don't recall a single incident of any atheist coercing me. This site is unique. Every priest I know accepts evolution. I defended Cofty about one year ago. A handful of believers organized and had specific demands. People who did not agree with them (which includes me) would not be allowed to read or comment on their post. It doesn't make much sense to join a community and then isolate so completely. I forget the details of their complaint. Not a single thing they complained about happened. It was sad.

Around the same time as I left the Witnesses, I became very agitated against the Witnesses. Rage filled me. I took a large magic marker and wrote for "J. to go f.....himself" on the walls of my room. If I am still alive, YHWH is a puny God. Only a puny God would destroy so much. Of course, YHWH is given the characteristics of society at the time. I can't imagine any society functioning with such a character. Oh, after I finished with my sayings on the wall, I opened my Andy Warhol soup can can and burned a New World Translation. I thought it was fire proof. It was not.

I know that the answer is much more complicated than what I believed as a teenager. Evil is such a subjective standard. It reminds me of the Bob Dylan song "With God on Our Side." I believe I would order the bombs used if I were president. The Japanese have a very different culture. They treated American prisoners of war much worse than Germans did b/c the idea of a surrender was incomprehensible to them. We were going to have to fight door to door against a civilian population dedicated to fighting to the death. I read that the British govt. was not so optimistic about keeping Hitler from invading. They organized members of towns to set up resistance to the Nazis. How many more people would have died in a conventional war that dragged on? I read a biography of Hirohito. His brother was willing to rule in his place. The men with the power were determined to fight even after the bombings.
France was invaded in record time. The French soldiers retreated. De Gaulle escaped to London with a small contingent. The French attitude was to beg Hitler for favored colony status. The Brits fought and fought. I'd rather be British.

I tried very hard to make friends in PA. The NY people did more interesting things. Lois' suggestion is wonderful. I invited immediate neighbors over during the holidays to share some cookies/cake and alcohol. When people invited me for this sort of thing in NY, I felt I had to attend. It is important to share notes about the building and general area. You never know that you might find out info that will help with work. It was obligatory during law school and practice. No one was invited to be the closest friend of my entire life. I splurged on my Christmas tree. People I did not know would ring my buzzer, announce that they were a friend of my friend, and ask if they could see my tree.
I was turned down numerous times by numerous people. The food I offered was first-rate. Entertaining is a skill that improves with practice.
One would think that rural PA would have friendlier people than in Manhattan. No way. All these magazines and show pitch entertaining. I had five etiquette books. The only thing that worked were pot luck dinners at church.

One of the key events that signaled our liberation from the WT was when my mom purchased Rascal, a spunky miniature fox terrier. We only had hew a few weeks when she made a mess on the floor. My mom picked up a decorative tole tray and ordered Rascal, who was obdient, to get beat. The humans knew there was no way my mom would do anything more. In fact, Rascal would prob. end up getting the spot behind her eyes massaged. She loved that. Rascal was new to my mom's regime. She openly defied my mom and plunged under the sofa. Rascal knew down to the quarter inch where she could not be grabbed. My eyes were popping out. Suddenly, I realized how much brighter Rascal was than me. I stood up and gave her a standing ovation. My brother and sister joined me. Rascal's attitude was I am a dog. I am not stupid. The very act heralded good times.
Rascal decided to walk with me miles to get a New York Times. I told her to stay home but she refused. She walked so steadily until I purchased the very thick and slipping Sunday Times. Rascal decided she was tired. She refused to budge. I played little kid with her and announced that it was nice knowing her. After four blocks I looked back. She was sitting calmly outside the newspaper store. So I walked for miles with a Sunday times under one arm and a fox terrier in the other. Both newspaper and dog kept slipping. Next time I will chain her at home.
I was not Rascal's favorite. Not even when I fed her exclusive table scraps. She ran up the hill and flirted with some huge Rotweillers. Most times she would not even acknowledge me. When I saw her cavorting flirtatiously with the Rotweillers, I could not believe my eyes. I walked up calmly b/c I did not want to trigger the Rotweillers. When I reached the top, Rascal immediately hid behind me, allowing me to meet ferocious Rotweillers. I said hello to the Rotweillers and walked away. Rascal persisted in letting me be the first one they would attack.
We could not have dogs when I was a child. My father abused them. Wherever we travelled, dogs seemed to know his history. The smallest dogs rushed in to bite him. There would be 30 humans present. The dogs focused on no one else. I would stare at Rascal for hours. Her ears, paws, etc. were so entertaining. A live dog living with us. She was smothered with affection.

I would check the credentials of the doctors. Majorities are not always right. Democracies prove that point.

LeMay who stirred up all the trouble in the 1960s. Didn't he run with Goldwater? LeMay elected a Democrat! His remarks were so silly and imprudent. What a small world.
